Events over the next few months should include opportunities to do savate demonstration matches, Ontario savate competitions and the 2008 Canada Cup. Competitors will be looking toward the 2008 Championnat du Monde Assaut.

Assaut Rules

When: Saturday April 28th, 2007 6:30pm -9:30pm

Where: Kombat Arts 1110 Kamato Rd. #7, Mississauga

Cost: $15 for Savate Ontario members

(Savate Ontario membership is $25.00)

This is a fantastic opportunity for competitors of all levels to develop their skills in the ring without the risks involved in full contact fighting. Assaut rules allow fighters to hit with enough power to disrupt their opponent's motion but not to cause injury. Bouts will consist of three 2-minute rounds with a one-minute break between rounds. Power will be strictly monitored.

Equipment:

Fighters must wear boxing gloves, mouthguards, shinguards, groin protection and appropriate footwear (savate shoes, wrestling shoes or light running shoes.)

General meeting

After the competition we will hold a short annual general meeting of Savate Ontario members.  We will go over the activities of Savate Ontario over the last year as well as plans for the furure.  Elections will also be held for the Executive Committee.  The committee currently consists of 4 positions: President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  All current members are eligible to run for a position and to vote, so if you are interested in fulfilling one of these roles and helping to shape savate in Ontarioplease consider putting your name forward.

This evening promises to be a fun and rewarding experience for all involved, don't miss it!
